ABOUT THE CAFE
A Bit of Background
The Jubilee Vegan Café at USC is a student-run co-op project to provide vegan lunches on Wednesdays at no cost.
The purposes of Jubilee are:
provide quality vegan food to support vegan students, staff, and faculty
promote vegan food and plant-based lifestyle among students, staff, and faculty
educate and promote animal rights
On Wednesdays, at the Office of Religious and Spiritual Life courtyard, Jubilee will provide 100 vegan meals to its members and guests. The cafe will occur for 15 weeks of each semester and provide 1500 meals during the Spring semester of 2022. If additional funds are secured, the number of meals will increase.
Meals are prepared by a professional vegan chef from a local vegan restaurant, a licensed vegan food truck, or a vegan personal chef. We will be partnering with various chefs to promote a variety of vegan restaurant options around the area. Recipes for each meal served will be made available to members and guests of the co-op.
Jubilee membership and meals are free at no cost. Its members will commit to serving at least one time each semester to set up and clean up the cafe, promote Jubilee by inviting others to experience vegan foods, and assist in distributing materials on veganism and the plant-based lifestyle.
Jubilee members will RSVP and sign in for meals weekly, and all guests will register for meals. A weekly Jubilee e-newsletter will provide information on vegan diets, animal rights, plant-based lifestyle, environment care, and other health and well-being materials.
